Waterfalls

Norway, a land of magnificent landscapes, with an abundance of waterfalls. Someone commented that each has been named.

We walked up the hill to stand behind this waterfall

Twin falls at Odda

Ålesund

Gave a concert in Ålesund for a folk dance group. They provided a meal of hearty bean soup and fresh bread and their accordion/fiddle/bass band played for those who wished to join in for an evening of traditional dance.

We were invited to spend the night in their mountain lodge

The "road" to the lodge was more like a narrow path.

Sunshine, at last, after several days of rain

Kviknes Hotel, Balestrand

Gorgeous hotel in a totally picturesque setting. We arrived yesterday, in time for an outstanding banquet buffet. Then we set up in their salon for 3 hours of after-dinner entertainment for the guests in exchange for our room and board - fair exchange, I'd say!

A day in Bergen

Constant drizzles on a cold morning couldn't keep us from exploring Bergen. For warmth, we ducked inside a coffee shop - Godt Brod (good bread) wonderful pastries, too.

Lunch at the fish market was fish and shrimp curry over rice, enjoyed inside a small tent

Delightful buildings, ancient and modern juxtaposed, parking sometimes accomplished at steep angles

Storetveit Church

Bergen, location of our May 31 evening concert. We arrived midafternoon with time to walk around the beautiful grounds, do a bit of practicing, and enjoy a scrumptious meal of fresh trout, potatoes, salad, topped off with homemade ice cream and meringues.

Concert was attended by approximately 50 people, who came up to investigate our harps, test drive them, and ask questions. We parted ways, staying overnight with numerous host families.
